Vision
|
The vision
of Abundant Waters Fellowship is to be a church under the direct leadership of
Jesus Christ Himself as the universal head of the body of Christ. The Holy
Spirit has been sent as Jesus' representative in the earth. As we follow Him,
we know our work will not be in vain (Psalms 127:1).
Jesus gave to his
church what we call the "Great Commission." In Mark 16:15, He told His
disciples to "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature."
This is the first part of the vision of Abundant Waters Fellowship. Our desire
is to reach out to our community, city, state, nation, and the world with the
message of salvation. It is the Lord's desire that none perish but all come to
repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Therefore, it is our vision to take the salvation
message to all.
In Matthew 28:19, Jesus said, "Go, therefore, and make
disciples of all nations..." This is the second part of the vision at Abundant
Waters Fellowship and that is to develop converts into disciples. A disciple is
one who is disciplined and trained to a specific doctrine or creed. By doing
this, we are strengthening the body of Christ and therefore strengthening our
efforts as the body of Christ in the earth.
In Hebrews 10:24, 25, the
Bible says, "And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good
works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of
some, but exhorting one another, and so much more as you see the day
approaching."
The third part of the vision is to have a church
building where people from our community, city, state, nation, and world can
come and have fellowship and receive encouragement from people of like-precious
faith (2 Peter 1:1). Jesus said that by our love for one another, the world
would know that we are disciples (John 13:35). With a strong local church, we
provide an atmosphere whereby this vision can become a reality.
"And
they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the
breaking of the bread, and in prayers. So continuing daily with one accord in
the temple, and breaking of bread, from house to house they ate their food with
gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all
people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved."
Acts 2:42, 46-47
These scriptures illustrate very clearly the
three-fold vision and purpose of Abundant Waters Fellowship. As we reach out to
the world with the message of salvation, train and develop disciples, and
provide an environment for fellowship with other believers we will see the
vision of Abundant Waters Fellowship come to pass, and please the heart of
Jesus Christ, the universal head of the Church. |
